Online lecture Carmen Schuhmann (UvH) + discussion (July 8)

This year we will organize a one-day online summerclass on Wednesday 8th of July. Carmen Schumann of the University for Humanistics will give a lecture based on her recent ARTICLE on chaplaincy. After that we will discuss the article, and look at the chaplaincy situation in the countries of the participants in smaller groups. We will end with a plenary session, and look at the summerschool 2021. Please contact us at humgv@mindef.nl or info@humanistprofessionals.eu if you wish to register. 

Due to the Corona-circumstances we had to decide to postpone the summerschool, as you will understand. The University of Humanistics is very busy developing online classes for their regular students, which means they cannot prepare the chaplaincy summerschool to a good level. Also the uncertainties about the possibilities to travel in july are an important reason to postpone.

But we have set a new date in 2021, more or less in the same period: 5th of july till the 9th of july 2021. Please save the date.

European Humanist Professionals (EHP) was formed in 1994 to support the work of humanist professionals based in the continent of Europe. Through the decades, EHP has offered training and networking events to humanist professionals working on the three core areas of humanist services; ceremonies, education and existential care. Through a diverse array of training opportunities, such as seminars, webinars, summer-schools, congresses and online resources, EHP has been supporting humanist professionals in developing their skills and thus extending the quality of humanist services in Europe. 


We are now looking for experienced humanist professionals to join our board, as several board members are retiring after years of dedicated service.

EHP hosting October Symposium in 2024

EHP is happy to invite humanist professionals/practitioners from all over Europe for a captivating symposium on changing political climates. How do we steer our humanist professionalism through increasing choppy waters. Throughout Europe we are currently facing increasing polarisation and false information not only in political debate but in everyday life. As a result civil trust is in decline and this trend has a profound impact upon the practice, the mode of dialogue and how we express humanist values in our societies.

Tale Pleym new chair of EHP board

After many years of dedicated efforts and care, Neil Anderson (HSS) passed on the EHP chair-torch to Tale Pleym of HEF. Tale has worked with humanist ceremonies for the last 14 years, mainly wedding and funerals, but also naming ceremonies and confirmation – both courses and ceremonies.

We are happy to announce our EHP Webinar program for Spring 2024. From March till June, we will host a webinar once a month based on the sessions we organised at the EHP Professionals Day in Copenhagen 2023.
