European Humanist Professionals (EHP) was formed in 1994 to support the work of humanist professionals based in the continent of Europe. Through the decades, EHP has offered training and networking events to humanist professionals working on the three core areas of humanist services; ceremonies, education and existential care. Through a diverse array of training opportunities, such as seminars, webinars, summer-schools, congresses and online resources, EHP has been supporting humanist professionals in developing their skills and thus extending the quality of humanist services in Europe.
We are now looking for experienced humanist professionals to join our board, as several board members are retiring after years of dedicated service.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Humanist professionals (staff, volunteers, self-employed) with experience in one or more of the core areas of humanist services.
- Motivated individuals with skills in a variety of areas such as project management, facilitation, communication, organisational strategy, and more.
- People who have the support of their respective national organisation to participate in both planning and execution of EHP’s operation.
- An international mindset and connections to humanist professionals in their network.
- Passionate people with time and commitment to contribute and an exceptional go-to song at karaoke.
WHAT DO YOU GET IN RETURN?
- A broader practical insight into humanist activities and practice throughout Europe.
- A stronger skillset as a humanist professional and experience in running events and projects.
- Being part of a community of like-minded and empathetic individuals who are passionate about working together on a common goal.
- An opportunity to make firm and future friendships.
WHAT DOES THE TYPICAL ENGAGEMENT LOOK LIKE?
The board meets approximately 10 times a year online and once or twice physically, in addition to carrying out at least one physical event for humanist professionals, such as training days, conferences, summer-schools, working visits etc. Along with direct participation, board members are expected to work on projects in their own time. Please note that English is the working language of EHP.
SUPPORT OF NATIONAL ORGANISATION
Historically, most board members have had both approval and financial support of their respective national organisation; with each national organisation contributing to travel cost and other cost of participation. Additionally; many board members have been staff members of humanist organisations and have been supported by allowing them to work on EHP matters during their working hours. Every individual situation will be assessed during the recruitment process.
