The Summer School will be a great opportunity to get inspired by colleagues and their experiences in other countries. You will learn about many of the ethical and existential issues and questions humanist chaplains have to deal with on a day to day basis, and how different countries interpret humanist values and the humanist life stance in chaplaincy.

There will be lectures and practical exercises on subjects that handle the daily practice of humanist chaplaincy, such as moral counselling and creating secular rituals.

You will get an impression of several working fields and practices and there will be exchange of knowledge and experience on how humanist chaplaincy can be organised, and is currently organised in different countries.

A cultural event will also be part of the program, exploring the historic traces of famous humanists in Amsterdam.

The Summer School will take place in the Netherlands, from the 25th to the 29th of July. The location is set at the beautiful Estate ‘Beukbergen’, the (moral) education centre of the Dutch military chaplaincy.

Lodging during the summer school will be provided in rooms with private bathroom and tv. This will keep entry cost low.

Registration for the Summer School is open for humanist professionals worldwide, or for those working towards professional secular chaplaincy.
